Three Shores Translations

My journey with language started long before my career; through Three Shores Translations, I turn passion into artistry across languages.

Three Shores Translations

My name is Paola Bueché and I bring together years of experience with a lifelong connection to language, culture, and writing into my translation practice. I work primarily between Spanish and English, drawing on a life lived across Argentina and the United States.

My background in anthropology, political science, Latin American studies, and literary translation has shaped the way I read and translate. I am interested in what a text says, in its texture, its music, its silences, and the emotional truth beneath the words.

Three Shores Translations reflects the meeting place between languages, identities, histories, and stories. Argentina and the United States form two of those shores. Italy is the third: a place that has become part of my literary and linguistic landscape and where my creativity continues to flourish.

SERVICES

How do you approach translations?

I offer thoughtful and crafted literary translation services that bridge the cultural nuances between English-Spanish-English. My expertise lies in understanding the rich literary contexts of each language, ensuring that the essence and beauty of the original text are preserved and transferred seamlessly to the target audience.

What are your qualifications?

I hold a BA in Anthropology and Political Science, with a minor in Latin American Studies, and a master's in Literary Translation. I'm passionate about language, intercultural crossings, and bringing visibility to voices from the Global South.

What types of texts do you specialize in translating?

I specialize in translating a diverse range of literary works, including but not limited to academic works, fiction, nonfiction, and essays.

What is the process of working with Three Shores Translations? (Self-published authors)

The process begins with an initial consultation where we discuss your project in detail. Following this step, I will provide you with a customized quote and timeline. After translation is complete, we undergo a review process where you can provide feedback or request any revisions. This collaborative approach ensures that the final product truly reflects your vision while maintaining the integrity of the original work.

What is the process of working with Three Shores Translations?

My work often begins with a book that captures my attention and stays with me. When I encounter a book I want to share with the English world, I want the author to know why their work matters to me, what I hear in the voice of the book, and why I believe it can resonate in another language.

If there is mutual interest, I prepare a sample translation and, when appropriate, a pitch package for publishers, prizes, or grants. From there, the process may lead to a full translation developed in close dialogue with the author and with sustained attention to voice, tone, and literary integrity.

I approach translation as a craft, and a form of literary advocacy to advance global voices of the South: a way of helping powerful works cross into new languages without losing what makes them distinct.

Guaraná: cómo la planta más rica en cafeína del mundo conquistó Brasil

Seth Garfield

Translation completed.

A través de una extensiva investigación académica centrada en este cultivo, el estudio revela cómo las intervenciones coloniales, el desarrollo capitalista, la ciencia occidental y el nacionalismo han moldeado la sociedad brasileña. Y así, la guaraná se presenta como un medio para comprender la estructuración de las desigualdades sociales en Brasil y la interconexión entre la agencia humana, las estructuras institucionales y el entorno natural.

La Mujer Poco Probable.webp

The Unlikely Woman

Tatiana Goransky

Translation in progress.

Martina and Leo are celebrating twenty-five years of marriage with a high-stakes flight to trace their family origins. But the celebratory trip quickly morphs into a psychological and literal tailspin. Trapped in a crucial moment where their lives are physically placed in danger, the couple is forced to dismantle the myths, omissions, and carefully guarded secrets of their quarter-century together. Built on an agile, gripping premise: if you were suddenly facing death, how would you rewrite your own history? Would you choose the person sitting next to you? The novel is a taut dissection of the minor choices that build, trap, and ultimately define a life.
